Common Uses: Borage Seed Oil is a rich source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid that is beneficial for skin health. Its high concentration of GLA makes it a popular ingredient in cosmetics for its soothing and moisturizing properties, especially for dry and sensitive skin. It is a very light oil and has less of an "oily" feel. Its regenerative and firming properties also make it a popular ingredient in anti-aging and wrinkle formulas to fight dehydration and loss of skin elasticity. Borage Oil should always be diluted with another carrier oil that supports skin and face care, such as sweet almond, jojoba, coconut or even olive oil. It can also be added to face wash product. Borage Seed Oil gives rich body to nutritive creams and night creams, and is best used only in a small percentage in a blend. The ratio is 1/4 Borage oil to 1 part carrier oil, cream or facial wash. It is commonly used to help aid skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, acne, itchy rash on the scalp as well as a type of skin condition call neurodermatitis. Borage oil is know to restore shine and strength to dry or dull hair, its composition also makes it effective to boost hair growth and help fight hair loss.
Borage oil should not be used by people on blood thinners, pregnant, breast feeding or have liver disease. Borage seed oil should never be ingested.
It is important to keep as much oxygen out of the bottle as possible, and to rebottle into smaller sizes as the oil is used to prevent oxidation and extend its shelf life. Refridgeration is reccomended.
